What and Where is the SCAILAB?
The SCAILAB is located in Addams Hall (first floor) at UIC. The SCAILAB is specialized in language acquisition software. They offer a multitude of interactive audio and video programs designed to help students learn English language and grammar. They have classrooms and computer labs available for instructors and students.
What are we going to do in the SCAILAB?
We will be using the program Connected Speech. This program provides exercises in listening comprehension, vocabulary, and pronunciation. It has a total of nine speakers, a variety of topics, and three different levels. The individuals modules provide exercises in text comprehension (language), sound, syllables, stress, pause groups, pitch change, and linking.
